Western Suburbs RFC Today

14 May 2008

This Saturday is Jim Joseph's bachelor party.
There will be paintball in the afternoon at the A G Paintball Games field near Leesburg. Starting time is 12:30 pm to kit up and a quick safety/rules talk. We will be finished at 4:30 pm. It will be a total of $115 for the refs for the whole group, plus ammo costs for each player. So the more players, the cheaper the cost. If there are 12 players it should be about $20/per person. Ammo cost is $10/500 rounds.

Directions are here.

That evening we will meet at 7:30 at Rio Grande in Reston Town Center for a few drinks.
(1827 Library St, Reston, VA 703-904-0703)
There are numerous bars within walking distance. This past winter we did this as a club and a good time was had by all.

All club members, Men' s side, Old boys, U 19 (paint ball only) and hangers-on are invited to attend.
This should be a blast even for those who can only make it out for the afternoon or for the night.

Ryan "Yorkie" Findley is moving Saturday and needs help!:
"Hi Gents, I wanted to update the plans for Saturday regarding our move. So as not to impede on Jungle Jim's Bachelor party we are going to start moving at 7:00AM this Satuday at our house in Reston. Coffee, donuts, etc. to be supplied. Truth be told we are planning on moving a lot of the boxes and some of the furniture Friday afternoon/evening so if anyone is more available Friday evening please let me know.

I understand a lot of you will be going out to the paint ball field Saturday and need to be there by 12:30PM. For many of you Reston is on the way and it would be a big help if you could stop by for even an hour or two before you go out to the paint ball field to just help move a few of the larger furniture items onto the truck.

The address is 2408 Wanda Way Drive, Reston, VA 20191.

Give me a call if you have any questions or can pitch in. Again, willing to make a donation to the club for your efforts.
Thanks, Yorkie"

If you can help, please contact Yorkie.

Tuesday and Thursday practices from 7:30-9:30 PM, on a lighted turf field at "Poplar Tree Park".
Go to Practice link for directions.

In case of inclement weather, be sure to check the status of the Poplar Tree Park fields by calling the Fairfax County Parks status line *after 3 pm* at 703-324-5264 for updates. (We are on Poplar Tree field #2.)

Practice consists of playing bugger for the summer months from 7:30-8:30 pm. We have the permit through the month of May. After 8:30 pm, practice will be dedicated to training in Rugby League with the Fairfax Eagles and our very own Steve Grant.

At the end of May we are trying to secure Oak Marr as we have in the past for continued summer bugger and training for the players interested in playing competitive 7s. Stay tuned.

Fairfax Eagles practice schedule for the week is as follows:
Tuesday and Thursday - 8:30 pm at Poplar Tree Park (4718 Stringfellow Rd. Chantilly, Virginia, 22021 - Field #2 )
Saturday - 10 am at Cub Run Elementary School (5301 Sully Station Drive, Centreville, Virginia)

Any problems/questions, give Steve a call 571.247.3733.

from Sean Mackintosh: "I'm planning a trip to see the Nationals vs. Brewers on Sunday, May 25, 1:30 day game. A bunch of us will be tailgating at RFK's parking lots. (the Nationals provide free parking there, with free shuttles to the new stadium). We'll be out there a little after 10 am on game day. Tickets range from $5 to $300 for presidential seats. Come one, come all, bring family, ladies, we'll be playing wiffleball, tossing the rugby ball, eating and drinking."
